Due to the current pandemic our classes are currently on hold. However we are looking at ways of restarting classes in the Autumn of 2020 and will be publishing more details shortly. The safety and wellbeing of all our families is our priority and we are presently looking at how we can safely restart, without compromising on the classes experience and quality. Sarah has recently undertaken some Covid-19 training particularly for children's activity providers and this will of course be used to help us plan and prepare to welcome you back.
Welcome to NurtureBaby
Ellie and Sarah set up NurtureBaby in 2018 with a desire to create gentle and 'child led' baby classes in Mid and East Devon.
Our ethos is to nurture the bond between parent and baby, providing a supportive welcoming class that is fun, informative and relaxed. With over 30 years experience of working in the early years, our classes have been designed and planned with your baby's needs and development at the heart of everything we do. Furthermore, apart from our wonderful experiences for babies, a big part of what we do is look after you, as parents. We recognise that in order to be our best, we need to be cared for ourselves.
That's why when you come to a NurtureBaby class you will always be made to feel welcome, supported and included.
The Nurture Nest (Birth to 9 months
The Treasure Trove (crawling up to 20 months)
The Nurture Nest (Birth to 9 months)
(A five/six week course, running in Cullompton and Exeter)
Our Nurture Nest class is a gentle cosy class that explores parenting and child development in a safe, facilitated environment. Perfect for first time parents (and second time parents too!) our aim is to create a safe and social space where new parents can connect with others, particularly at a time of change and adjustment.
The Nurture Nest focuses on supporting strong connections between parent and baby, with activities designed to promote baby's emotional development. As well as discussion and time to chat with other parents, we'll give you lots of ideas and activities that you can try at home.
Some of the topics we cover include:
Attachment and brain development
Crying and emotional regulation
Touch and sensory play
Course Start Dates:
Due to Covid-19, our Exeter and Cullompton classes are currently on pause.
We hope to run classes again as soon it is safe to do so and will update this page as soon as we have more information.
The Treasure Trove (Crawling babies to 20 months)
These classes run from Cullompton Scout Centre on an 'as and when' basis subject to interest.
Within these calm and cosy classes we will introduce you and your little one to 'heuristic play' (authentic and natural objects that we can find in everyday life.
Perfect for crawling babies to toddlers on the move, these classes will encourage your little ones to explore and investigate different objects that provide children with rich and multi-sensory experiences.
Each week we will introduce you to a different 'schema' (or repeated pattern of behaviour) and we will share with you how children use these patterns to make sense of their learning. As part of this class, every child will also receive a small treasure bag and a weekly piece of 'treasure' that they can enjoy at home.

These classes will run from Cullompton Scout Centre on an 'as and when' basis, subject to interest. Please message for more details.
A little about us
Ellie and Sarah set up NurtureBaby in 2018. We had both worked together at one of the largest children's centres in Devon and both knew we had the same values. We are not part of a franchise or a large company, but it was our desire to support, educate and nurture families through those first amazing (but challenging!) years that inspired us to create NurtureBaby.
Sarah has qualified teacher status and started her career as a reception class teacher. She is a qualified childcare assessor and has over 25 years working with early years children and their families. She has a real interest in children's communication and language and loves heuristic play.
Ellie has a degree in childhood and youth studies and many years of experience in working with children and families. She has worked as a family support worker and facilitated parenting courses as well as individual work with families and children. She has undertaken further study and training in the area of children's emotional development and this is a particular passion.
We are both first aid trained and have DBS clearance.
